M2 Powersports is your local independent powersports repair shop. What does that mean you ask? Well, being an independent shop means we are not a franchise dealer tied to selling products for any one brand. We have no quota or brand to push which allows us to offer products and services that best fit our customers. I started M2 Powersports officially in February of 2018 as a repair shop and within the first year it was clear this could be a full time opportunity! In June of 2019, M2 moved in to the former Steele County Marine building at 2010 S. Cedar Ave Owatonna, MN. The move came with lots of work from painting and cleaning to installing new equipment. I enlisted the help of my wife Amy, and our kids Avery and Mason. Many other family and friends pitched in and created a clean and appealing powersports shop. As a one man shop things were starting to grow, and in September of 2019 a young man walked into the shop looking to fulfill a credit for his high school mentorship class. This 6 week class was meant to give him a view of the career path that he was interested in by observing and asking questions. By the 3rd day in the shop this young man by the name of Mat Gardner, was done watching and asked if there was anything he could work on. Lucky for him I had just acquired an old Arctic Cat Z440. I challenged him to get it up and running. After a few more days and lots of challenges and learning, the sled was revived! At the end of the mentorship Mat become my first part time employee. Mat graduated from OHS in 2020 and has been full time with M2 since. I take pride in passing on my 16+ years of Powersports knowledge to Mat with every opportunity! As M2 has grown and started to carry inventory on many common tires and accessories we have been increasingly busy. In March of 2021, we added a seasoned tech by the name of Jake Gilbert to the group. Jake comes with 16 year of experience and is gold certified with Polaris. Jake graduated from Blooming Prairie, MN and then attended WYO Tech in Laramie, WY where he studied automotive technology/Chassis fabrication and high performance engine technology. He is known for his high quality work and attention to detail. Between Jake and myself we have gold certifications with Arctic Cat, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Polaris. This experience and pride ensure top notch service at M2 Powersports.
Recently we have started building our project Polaris Pro XP4 Ultimate build. I enjoy getting the kids involved and sharing the passion for the sport and hope you will follow our future posts as we add accessories and customize our ride!
